摘要: BACKGROUND: Sentinel lymph node (SN) biopsy is a technique for identifying axillary metastases from primary breast cancer. The present paper reports our results with the method. MATERIAL AND METHODS: SN biopsies have been routinely performed at Ulleval University Hospital since 2000 and prospectively recorded. 1409 patients cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ grade 3, were injected peritumoral radiocolloid day before blue dye per-operatively to detect SN. RESULTS: was detected 90 % of operations. Metastases 25 52 these had no further positive nodes axilla. Thus, clearance omitted 948 patients. Three local recurrence axilla within one year after successful procedure. Ductal 3 diagnosed preoperatively 162 (cytology); 88 diagnosis histology rest invasive combinations lesions other grades. Axillary found 4.8 Isolated tumour cells (< 0.2 mm diameter) 9 whom has not performed. INTERPRETATION: replaced routine as operation method safe when correctly, negative rarely occur.
