摘要: Abstract Al–Si–Cu casting alloys are widely used in manufacturing automotive parts. Semisolid forming of these can eliminate major problems their die casting. In this study, low superheated melt was employed to modify the microstructure and produce non-dendritic A380 alloy. Melt poured on a cooling slope plate at 615°C ingots were obtained through permanent mold They thixoformed using hydraulic press after holding 570°C for 15 min yield having α-Al globules, Si particles, modified β-phase intermetallic compounds. Image analysis showed that size distribution phases iron-bearing intermetallics by semisolid processing. The results also thixoforming have improved mechanical properties including tensile strength, elongation, hardness high iron content alloys.
