摘要: Virchow's triad describes three factors that contribute to the development of venous thrombosis: hypercoagulability, stasis and endothelial injury. Yet, extensive review historical literature casts doubt on existence a described by Virchow in form it is currently quoted throughout contemporary medical literature. Certainly his work involved study thrombosis pulmonary embolism, with these two terms being coined Virchow, but relating elusive. Interestingly, only began be routinely credited this one hundred years after publication thrombosis. This acknowledgement coincided accumulation experimental evidence for role play thrombogenesis. Controversial as origins might be, apt given substantial contribution our knowledge thromboembolism, fact continues clinically relevant today pertaining should remain.
