Invariably, at each stage, the characteristics of cell been ascribed to some defect in whatever branch biology happens time be fashionable exciting; today, it is molecular genetics'. Tremendous transformations occurred since these few lines were written by John Cairns: discovery oncogenes anti-oncogenes, successful development 'magic bullets' targeting proteins encoded oncogenes.
