摘要: Abstract A series of MFI (modified fouling index) measurements were performed to evaluate and predict organic potential mechanism in seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination, by employing a multiple membrane array system (MMAS) which microfiltration (MF), loose tight ultrafiltration (UF) membranes configured consecutive manner determine the MFIs particles, colloids, organics. The results suggested that fractions manifested colloid-MFI should be removed control effectively, as fraction with MW ranging from 30 300 kDa led most severe RO experiments. variations according solution conditions (i.e., pH Ca2 +) also more accurately evaluated using than conventional SDI. This work demonstrated current index, relying on single membrane, could improved utilizing different characteristics (e.g., pore size hydrophobicity) assess behavior specific fractions.
