摘要: OBJECTIVE to compare the acquisition and retention of knowledge about surgical cricothyroidostomy by rapid four-step technique (RFST), when taught expository lecture, low fidelity high-fidelity simulation models. METHODS ninety medical students at UFPR in first years training were randomized assigned into 3 groups, submitted different teaching methods: 1) lectures, 2) low-fidelity simulator model, developed research team or 3) model (commercial). The procedure chosen was using RFST. Soon after groups a multiple-choice test with 20 questions (P1). Four months later, they underwent another (P2) similar content. Analysis Variance used grades each group P1 their P2, 2 P2. A multiple comparisons (post-hoc) check differences within factor (test group). Statistical significance considered p 0.05). CONCLUSIONS more effective learning retention, being feasible for RFST inexperienced students.
