摘要: Summary This research describes a field study and laboratory simulations of the geochemical evolution groundwater following recharge effluent into aquifers. The was conducted in soil aquifer treatment (SAT) system Shafdan sewage reclamation plant, Israel. SAT recharges secondary calcareous sandstone sediments Israeli Coastal Aquifer as tertiary treatment. reclaimed is recovered ca. 500 m off basin used for unlimited irrigation. which pumped through experimental columns packed with pristine sediment showed that chemical composition outflowing water controlled mainly by cation exchange CaCO3 dissolution. Na+, K+ Mg2+ were adsorbed Ca2+ desorbed during initial stage recharge. equilibrium distribution cations was: Ca2+ ∼ 60%, Mg2+ ∼ 20%, Na+ K+ ∼ 10% each. production wells outflow (∼5 meq L−1) always higher than recharged (∼3.5 meq L−1), indicating continuous demonstrates besides mixing, suite processes should be considered when assessing quality artificial
