摘要: As the performance of individual elements within parallel processing systems increases, increased communication capability between distributed processor and memory is required. There great interest in using fiber optics to improve interconnect beyond that attainable electronic technology. Several groups have considered WDM, star-coupled optical interconnects. The invention uses a optic transceiver (12, 14, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 30) provide low latency, high bandwidth channels for such interconnects robust multimode Instruction-level stimulation used quantify bandwidth, concurrence required scale 256 nodes, each operating at 1 GFLOPS performance. Performance scales been shown ≈100 scientific application kernels small number wavelengths (8 32), only one wavelength received per node, achievable optoelectronic latency.
