Rhythmicity of chromophore turnover of visual pigment in the Antarctic amphipod Orchomene plebs (Crustacea ; Amphipoda)

摘要: 1. Relative retinal amounts in the compound eye of Antarctic amphipod Orchomene plebs were assessed during conditions continuous summer daylight every 3 h over a period 48 h. The habitat experimental animal is bottom Ross Sea (78°S; 166°E) down to depths at least 400 m; water temperature constant — 1.8° C. A periodicity 12 was detected with relative 11-cis exhibiting peaks midday and midnight troughs 7.00 19.00 h. 2. The result that 90% retinoid insoluble n-hexane suggests measured attached membrane-bound proteins such as opsin. 3. Selective light adaptation showed visual pigments thermostable photoregenerable. main absorbance peak rhodopsin, compared metarhodopsin, seems be longer wavelengths.
