摘要: Abstract A middle Pleistocene flora from a low latitude of southern China was paleoclimatically studied through quantitative reconstruction. The fossiliferous layer is correlated to the fourth terrace local Youjiang River and its age revised be based on presence Paleolithic stones in terrace. Coexistence Approach applied plant fossil materials, combined both leaf fossils sporo-pollen assemblage collected extracted Changsheling Formation. reconstructed temperatures show that slightly cooler than today, which consistent with global cooling trend Quaternary. mean annual range temperature site appears larger compared present, implying somewhat higher seasonality Pleistocene. rainfall pattern suggests region experienced relatively resulted impact weaker-than-present winter summer East Asian monsoons during Furthermore, this overall wetter condition throughout year transition provides additional evidence support conclusion other coeval terrestrial records such as vermiculated red soils across China. cooler-than-present reduced precipitation at may indicate belongs glacial phase.
