摘要: During the Mesozoic, Rhenish Massif was not covered any more by sea since Lower Jurassic times, except for northern and northwestern margins which were affected short ingressions during Upper Cretaceous. The first uplifting movements took place at end of Cretaceous in early Tertiary part massif. But spite these surface entire did rise much above level Tertiary. A marine ingression large areas western Middle/Upper Oligocene. main uplift started Oligocene continued up to present time. Towards Miocene accelerated. Rhine valley exists Middle Miocene.
