摘要: Background Whether safety-net hospitals (SNHs) provide patient-centered care has important implications both for patient outcomes and how these will fare under value-based purchasing (VBP). We sought to determine performance improvement on measures of patient-reported hospital experience among SNHs compared with non-SNHs. Methods Our sample consisted 3096 US hospitals. defined as those in the highest quartile Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) index, we used national data from Consumer Assessment Healthcare Providers Systems (HCAHPS) survey 2007 2010 examine overall over time. Results Safety-net had lower than non-SNHs nearly all experience. The greatest differences were rating, where patients less likely rate a 9 or 10 10-point scale (63.9% vs 69.5%; P  Conclusions have metrics experience, improved somewhat more slowly public reporting, are poorly VBP.
