摘要: Purpose. To present a case of small hypothalamic hamartoma (HH) causing gelastic seizures and treated with stereotactic radiofrequency thermocoagulation. Case report. A 22-year-old man presented intractable focal refractory to medical treatment. Magnetic resonance imaging showed 6 mm × 7 sessile intraventricular HH. Under local anesthesia, four intra-hamartoma lesions were made via thermocoagulation using depth electrode for recording stimulation. Results. Transient central hyperthermia, hypertension, tachycardia observed during the coagulation procedure. Intra-hamartoma spikes slow waves identified on recordings. No seizure was induced by deep The patient seizure-free 12-month follow up no permanent surgical complications occurred. Conclusion. Stereotactic may be an effective safe treatment option in selected cases seizures.
