摘要: The efficacy of the essential oils Cymbopogon citratus and Tagetes minuta in causing mortality adults sandfly Phlebotomus duboscqi was tested a laboratory bioassay. effect on oviposition by female sand flies also evaluated. Each oil (EO) extract at graded concentrations 0.125; 0.250; 0.500; 0.750 1mg/ml Tween 80 positive control dimethyl-3-methylbenzamide (DEET). preparations were applied onto inner surface bottom sterile pot thirty adult sandflies P. aspirated into pot. insects recorded as number dead after 24, 48 72 h. In addition, numbers eggs oviposited that subjected to different treatments recorded. results showed both T. C. highly potent against flies, with levels 100.00 82.22 % 88.89 male sandflies, respectively 72h. Comparing caused two oils, which significantly higher ( P < 0. 05) than sandflies. However, shorter periods there no statistical difference males females each oils. With regard oviposition, treated laid lower those oil. Furthermore, gas chromatography-mass spectrometric analysis done samples wide range candidate compounds, including terpenes. conclusion, are promising natural insecticides due their safety advantage over chemical insecticides. It remains carry out further studies field using human subjects before adoption for use Phlebotomine addition bioassays individual combinations constituent compounds may determine biologically active compounds.
