摘要: An ecological approach to multimodal perception of virtual environments suggests that different perceptual mechanisms should cooperate in forming an impression the complex surrounding. Traditionally, Virtual Environments (VE’s) has primarily been developed for visual modality. It is hypothesized multi-modal stimulation VE’s raises experience presence perceived by user. Furthermore, it believed auditory cues also can improve memory. In Experiment 1, 40 subjects were assigned either a unimodal (vision only) or bimodal and hearing) environment. The had two memory- navigation tasks, one where no apparent connection information carried similar information. Completion time both tasks was measured. Statistical analysis showed as expected improvement memory occurred unrelated task, while yielded significant effect second task. Ratings condition experienced significantly higher presence, more focused on situation enjoyed VE than receiving did. 2 tested hypothesis varying degrees realism would affect judgments aural room qualities betweensubjects design using 80 undergraduates. results suggested stimuli serve information-carrying channel well way performance may measure VE’s.
