Low FODMAPs diet for functional abdominal pain disorders in children: critical review of current knowledge

摘要: Abstract Objective This narrative review aimed to provide practitioners a synthesis of the current knowledge on role low Fermentable Oligosaccharides Disaccharides Monosaccharides and Polyols diet in reducing symptoms associated with functional abdominal pain disorders children. is focused pathophysiology, efficacy criticism Sources Cochrane Database, Pubmed Embase were searched using specific terms for interventions disorders. Summary findings In children, only one Randomized Control Trial open-label study reported positive results diet; showed exacerbation fructans children Irritable Bowel Syndrome; no effect was found lactose-free whilst fructose-restricted diets effective 5/6 studies. Conclusions there are few trials evaluating disorders, encouraging data therapeutic particularly diet. Additional efforts still needed fill this research gap clarify most efficient way tailoring dietary restrictions based patient's tolerance and/or identification potential biomarkers efficacy, maintain nutritional adequacy simplify adherence by labeling content commercial products.
