A Comparison of Quality of Life Indicators During Two Complementary Interventions: Adaptive Gardening and Adaptive Riding for People with Dementia

摘要: Abstract Objectives We sought to provide a fine-grain description and comparison of how people living with dementia responded adaptive gardening riding through durations their observed participation emotional well-being, two dimensions quality life. Design A descriptive case study design enabled in-depth life indicators, during four videotaped sessions riding. Interventions Eight self-selected into one complementary interventions, community-based (n = 4) or 4), in Northern Colorado. Both occurred for hour-long, weekly eight-weeks. Outcome Measure Durations indicators apparent affect were documented using modified version the Activity-in-Context-in-Time on 31 hours data. each indicator averaged per participant aggregated by group Wilcoxon Mann-Whitney U test Results interventions supported well-being participation. Longer active significantly higher complex (U 16, p= 0.029). Conclusion merit continued development. Adaptive appeared support longer more forms when compared gardening. Findings can inform healthcare providers’ recommendations dementia. More research is needed larger sample size further examine similarities differences.
