摘要: The SNF4 gene is required for expression of glucose-repressible genes in response to glucose deprivation Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Previous evidence suggested that functionally related SNF1, another essential this global regulatory system encodes a protein kinase. Increased SNF1 dosage partially compensates mutation SNF4, and the function maximal kinase activity vitro. We have cloned identified its 1.2-kilobase RNA, which not regulated by repression. A 36-kilodalton predicted from nucleotide sequence. Disruption chromosomal locus revealed requirement less stringent at low temperature (23 degrees C). bifunctional SNF4-lacZ fusion includes almost entire coding sequence was constructed. shown immunofluorescence microscopy be distributed throughout cell, with partial localization nucleus. SNF4-beta-galactosidase coimmunoprecipitated kinase, thus providing physical association two proteins.
