Optimization of metakaolin-based geopolymer reinforced with sisal fibers using response surface methology

摘要: Abstract The geopolymer appears as an ecologically viable alternative when compared to Portland cement, due the lower CO2 emission rates. objective of this work was produce and characterize pastes reinforced with long sisal fibers through toughness modulus elasticity responses. For purpose, metakaolin used aluminosilicate source material a combination sodium silicate hydroxide activator solution. variables studied were percentage in composite, ratio between amount base cure time. statistical model central composite planning order optimize results obtained scanning electron microscopy analysis analyze microstructure final composite. Modulus values 3.19 GPa use 5.15%, by volume, fiber, activator/metakaolin 0.41 24 days cure. optimization occurred 5.19% fiber curing time 7 binder 0.55, reaching result 2.09 kJ/m2.
