摘要: We conducted a prioritization exercise for 47 terrestrial carnivores in North and Central America. used 2 by degree cells to explore the spatial patterns overall richness, regionally endemic threatened species identified hotspots (the top 10% of each category). obtained optimal minimum sets represent carnivore either (1) at least once, (2) three times, or (3) its regional distribution range. Our analysis considered with 50% more their area protected, human population density (HPD) per grid cell, excluding higher HPD. found low congruence among hotspots, suggesting these should not be alone directing conservation strategies. About 7, 18 84 are needed reach representation goal, respectively. A much number protected achieve same goals. Representing species’ range required additional complement cells. Irreplaceable had similar HPD than average values all By HPD, irreplaceable lower but cannot represented all. defining priorities proposing networks areas region, actual efforts can reviewed revised. Furthermore, if our results incorporated into general strategy, limited resources available conserve might directed efficiently.
