摘要: Streptococcus pneumoniae is an uncommon etiological organism in children with hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Patients S. pneumoniae-associated HUS commonly have a pneumonia or meningitis. Historically, usually has poor clinical outcome. We report 3 pediatric cases of pneumococcal pneumonia-induced HUS. All patients were <2 years old, had empyema complicating pneumonia, and developed renal failure oliguria required peritoneal dialysis for period 9 to 26 days. received several transfusions unwashed packed red cells platelets. the survived. Of cases, 2 normal function at discharge, 1 mild impairment 16-month follow-up. Our suggests remains rare but severe complication invasive infection children. It important pediatricians note that hematologic dysfunction should be investigated evidence
