摘要: The article discusses recent survey results of the public attitudes towards genetic research and Estonian Genome Project (EGP), placing these into general debate about impact gene technology on modern society, with special attention possible social implications accompanying creation human genome banks. applicability propositions Ulrich Beck how to balance latently growing importance thinking in society is reviewed context quite different history development "risk society". In comparison Western European experience, Estonia characterised by a lack previous controversial experience (i.e. debates over GMO, cloning, etc.), continuing very high appreciation scientists, coupled tradition critical engagement science related issues. This has resulted overwhelmingly positive perception project. Taking account crucial aspect which EGP differs from all other planned banks, namely granting every donor right for feedback, it argued that such context, fears those concerned negative rather unbalanced introduction spheres are even more tangible.
