摘要: Indigenous people number more than 300 million. They are inhabitants of practically every main biome the earth and especially least disturbed terrestrial aquatic ecosystems world. Based on an exhaustive review published data, this article stresses strategic importance indigenous peoples in maintenance conservation world's biodiversity. Four links between biodiversity examined: correlation biological richness cultural diversity both geopolitical biogeographic terms, biomass appropriation; remarkable overlap territories remaining areas high biodiversity; views, knowledge, practices conservation. The finishes by emphasizing urgent need for recognizing a new bio–cultural axiom: that will be effectively preserved only preserving cultures vice versa.
