Release of weak and strong copper-complexing agents by algae1

摘要: By means of potentiometric titrations, the copper-complexing properties organic compounds released by 21 algal species are characterized. Most eucaryotic measurable amounts (10/sup -6/ M) agents that could be modeled as weak acids with log)*K/sub CuL./ = 0.5. Of seven blue-green studied, four produced about 5 x 10/sup -7/ M concentrations strong conditional stability constants in range 8/ to 12/; two complexing similar those eucaryotes. In time-course experiments three chlorophytes and cyanophytes, release occurred principally during stationary phase.
