Influence of the microstructure evolution of ZrO2 fiber on the fracture toughness of ZrB2–SiC nanocomposite ceramics

摘要: Abstract ZrB 2 –SiC nanocomposite ceramics toughened by ZrO fiber were fabricated spark plasma sintering (SPS) at 1700 °C. The content of incorporated into the nanocomposites ranged from 5 mass% to 20 mass%. content, microstructure, and phase transformation exhibited remarkable effects on fracture toughness 2(f) /ZrB composites. Fracture composites greatly improved a maximum value 6.56 MPa m 1/2  ± 0.3 MPa m addition 15 mass% fiber. microstructure certain alterations after SPS process, which enhanced crack deflection bridging affected toughness. Some microcracks induced t-ZrO m-ZrO , was also an important reason behind improvement in
