摘要: The use of hard coatings to improve the service-life forming tools has increased significantly in metalforming processes, both for bulk- and sheet- metal applications. However, while knowledge on most relevant coating technologies, namely Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) Chemical (CVD), been developed improved, approaches select a specific operation still remain not well established, being mainly based trial error experiences. Finite Element Method (FEM) analyses may represent an effective support selection thanks possibility investigating influence different process parameters, but need testing procedures reliable models describe mechanical tribological phenomena at interface between dies workpiece is relevant. paper presents novel experimental set-up evaluation wear resistance coated sheet operations. A progressive stamping was taken as reference case analysed by numerical simulation order evaluate contact pressures sliding speed tools-blank interface. diamond-like-carbon a-C:H:Ti chosen deposited PVD magnetron sputtering technique. set up designed tested using parameters obtained from simulation. results showed good correlation with stresses applied industrial case, allowing performances.
