摘要: The aim was to describe male cancer survivors' barriers towards participation in rehabilitation as a means guiding future targeted men's rehabilitation. Symbolic Interactionism along with the interpretive descriptive methodology guided study of 35 survivors representing seven types. Data were generated through 5-month fieldwork comprising participant observations, semi-structured individual interviews and informal conversations. analyses revealed two overarching findings shedding light on rehabilitation: ‘Fear losing control’ ‘Striving for normality’. While signified what men believed would invoke: ‘Reduced manliness’, ‘Sympathy dependency’ ‘Confrontation death’, normality’ based hinder: ‘Autonomy purpose’, ‘Solidarity fellowship’ ‘Forget move on’. This documents how masculine ideals may constitute provides insights about why are underrepresented can guide practice develop research-based approaches focused preserving control normality. Further empirical evidence is needed to: (1) explore conduct health professionals' patients (2) address gender inequalities
