摘要: The stability of the genome is constantly under attack from both endogenous and exogenous DNA damaging agents. These agents, as well naturally occurring processes such replication recombination can result in double-strand breaks (DSBs). DSBs are potentially lethal so eukaryotic cells have evolved an elaborate pathway, damage response, which detects damage, recruits proteins to DSBs, activates checkpoints stall cell cycle progression ultimately mediates repair damaged DNA. As occur context chromatin, execution this response partly orchestrated through modification DNA-bound histone proteins. modifications include addition or removal various chemical groups small peptides function change chromatin structure attract factors involved such, particularly important early stages response. This review will focus on modifications, enzymes responsible also highlights their importance by reporting known roles for these disease.
