Farmers’ willingness to pay for a village poultry vaccine service in Ethiopia: prospect for enhancing rural livelihoods

摘要: This research examines farmers’ willingness to pay for village poultry vaccine programmes using data from 400 household heads two districts in Ethiopia, Horro and Jarso. The study applied a contingent valuation method elicit services. Two hypothetical were designed Newcastle disease Gumboro disease. Both parametric non-parametric approaches employed analysis. results show that farmers recognise the benefits of programme many would be willing it. Results estimates produced households’ mean Ethiopian Birr (ETB) 80 up ETB 87 per year based on type. demonstrates potential prospect reducing impact infectious diseases enhancing rural livelihoods through poultry. Exponential probit analysis revealed service is influenced by age, education level, region respondents. Younger more-educated more likely services Horro, relatively food secure educated area, than those less Jarso district.
