摘要: Development of the comprehensive care plan (CCP) is a requirement for nursing homes participating in federal Medicare and Medicaid programs, referred to as skilled facilities. The must be developed within context interdisciplinary assessment framework—the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI). Consistent compliance with this has been difficult achieve. To improve quality CCP development framework, an increased understanding complex factors contributing inconsistent required. In commentary, we examine history plan; its RAI framework; linkages between registered nurse staffing; empirical evidence CCP’s efficacy; limitations extant standards practices development. Because nurse’s educational preparation, professional practice standards, licensure obligations, essential contributions nurses are emphasized. Recommendations evidence-based micro macro level changes potential regulatory presented. Suggestions future research given.
