摘要: In the past four years this laboratory has utilized hamster cheek pouch tumor model to investigate anticancer activities of antioxidants, such as beta carotene. These molecules, which have exhibited no evidence toxicity, been administered systemically (oral ingestion), and locally site in pouch. The results either inhibition growth, or regression tumor. Adjacent degenerating tumors a dense inflammatory infiltrate was observed. Specifically, cytokines, necrosis factor alpha, beta, immunohistochemically localized regressed oral carcinoma. Recently, liposomes composed phosphaditylcholine, phosphaditylserine, phosphodityelanolamine were combined with carotene injected squamous cell carcinoma hamster. indicated that cells accumulated lysed while normal mucosal did not demonstrate effect. Therefore antioxidants can be site, without toxic response. Future studies on activity need focus cellular molecular changes produced immune effectors following administration antioxidants.
