摘要: Existing models treat migration as either an individual or household decision. In this paper is modeled the outcome of joint utility maximisation by prospective migrant and other members. This approach encompasses Todaro special cases a more general model. It provides theoretical rationale for inclusion richer set explanatory variables in econometric model migration. Further it links determinants with existing work on remittances. Empirical evidence from rural survey western Kenya support (EXCERPT)
