摘要: As the exclusive intermediate host of human blood fluke Schistosoma mansoni, species snail Biomphalaria, especially Biomphalaria glabrata, have been subjects numerous studies focused on immunobiology parasite–host interactions. With recent applications molecular, genomic, proteomic and glycomic approaches to study Biomphalaria’s immune response schistosomes other trematode species, there is now accumulating a wealth information that beginning address mechanisms underlying these complex associations. In this chapter, we attempt broadly review our past understanding immunity integrate cellular molecular events surrounding initial responses larval infections, consequences interactions counter-immune strategies used by parasites.
