The effects of different atmospheric conditions on device stability of organic small-molecule solar cells under constant illumination

摘要: A systematic study is presented on various effects of different environmental conditions stability and degradation small-molecule organic solar cells under continuous simulated radiation. Devices were fabricated based heterojunctions with pentacene copper phthalocyanine as donor, [6,6]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester acceptor materials. Seven operating employed to investigate their stability. Three simultaneous mechanisms found be largely responsible for device degradation: (i) photo-oxidation active materials in the presence light oxygen that results a drop photocarrier generation electrical transport properties cells, (ii) morphology instability UV annealing reducing charge within devices (iii) bubble formation vicinity electrodes moisture absorption, affecting collection efficiency cells. Significant improvement was by careful choice proper encapsulation.
