摘要: We report a highly significant Submillimeter Array (SMA) detection of the prototypical submillimeter source HDF 850.1, which is brightest in Hubble Deep Field-North proper. The yields an extremely precise position RA(2000)=12:36:51.99 and Dec(2000)=+62:12:25.83 with 1-sigma positional uncertainty 0.17 arcsec. consistent location millimeter wavelength interferometric locations weak VLA detections at 1.4 8.4 GHz, but it not any previous optical/near-infrared identifications. appears pointlike 2 arcsec resolution SMA, detected flux 7.8+/-1.0 mJy measured SCUBA fluxes. tabulate fluxes limits on 850.1 other wavelengths. Our redshift estimate for based radio through mid-infrared measurements z=4.1. faintness wavelengths high estimated suggest that may be analog brighter GOODS 850-5, also thought to z>4. fact like should have appeared one very first blank-field observations ever made suggests such high-redshift sources are quite common. Thus, we led conclude star formation dominated by giant dusty star-forming galaxies, just as lower redshifts.
