摘要: The island of Sumbawa, in the eastern part Indonesian archipelago (Fig. l), encompasses a wide and interesting variety agroecosystems, by which is meant complex relationships between specific human communities, their systems agriculture, environments these are practised. juxtaposition such agroecosystems presents good opportunity to reexamine some prevailing views agricultural development (and underdevelopment), environmental degradation, role local government process. This paper will commence with description each principal on -- namely swidden permanent field dryland irrigated rice cultivation, grassland hunting grazing an analysis more problematic aspects. be followed general discussion relationship populations, land cover one or two possible exceptions seems accord Boserup’s (1965) thesis. Finally current effects policies assessed.
