Dietary self-selection by pregnant and lactating rats.

摘要: Abstract Protein-carbohydrate choice was studied in female rats through the course of estrus cycle and during pregnancy lactation. Both selecting control diet fed animals grew at same rates. Food intake reduced phase, but there were no changes dietary selection pattern. During both lactation protein increased while carbohydrate maintained a level equal to nonimpregnated controls. These data interpreted as supporting other studies showing that self-selection follows varying nutritional requirements organism.
