摘要: Abstract The find of a partial shell pleurodiran turtle from the Cenomanian (basal Upper Cretaceous) Madagascar was reported in 1980s. It then referred to as potential member bothremydid Bothremys, but it has remained unpublished until now. Its attribution Bothremydidae is confirmed here, since identified representative Bothremydina, clade known by several freshwater littoral species North America, southwestern Europe, northern Africa and Middle East. Madagascar, showing exclusive characters within this lineage, attributed new form, Akoranemys madagasika gen. et sp. nov. corresponds one few Mesozoic taxa defined where only two pleurodires, belonging other clades (the Kurmademydini non-bothremydid Euraxemydidae), had been recognized at specific level, both being Maastrichtian record that country. Therefore, oldest for fossil also members Bothremydina worldwide. analyzed specimen so far area all remains country coming northwestern region. presence unique Southern Hemisphere, palaeobiogeographic distribution lineage remarkably expanded.
