摘要: Objective: To review population-based studies of the prevalence and incidence epilepsy worldwide use meta-analytic techniques to explore factors that may explain heterogeneity between estimates. Methods: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses standards were followed. We searched MEDLINE EMBASE articles published on or since 1985. Abstract, full-text review, data abstraction conducted in duplicate. Meta-analyses meta-regressions used association incidence, age group, sex, country level income, study quality. Results: A total 222 included (197 prevalence, 48 incidence). point active was 6.38 per 1,000 persons (95% confidence interval [95% CI] 5.57–7.30), while lifetime 7.60 CI 6.17–9.38). annual cumulative 67.77 100,000 56.69–81.03) rate 61.44 person-years 50.75–74.38). did not differ by period higher low middle income countries. Epilepsies unknown etiology those with generalized seizures had highest prevalence. Conclusions: This provides a comprehensive synthesis from international offers insight into contribute Significant gaps (e.g., lack studies, stratification groups) identified. Standardized reporting future epidemiologic is needed.
