摘要: Summary 1. Resource-limiting conditions impose a change in the energetic distribution between competing physiological processes. Over past decade there has been increasing interest trade-offs immune system and energy-consuming life-history traits. However, with energy saving mechanisms, such as heterothermy, have received limited attention. 2. The goal of this study is to determine how daily heterothermy expression could be adjusted counterbalance requirements for activation depending on food availability (ad libitum vs. 40% calorie restriction) heterothermic primate, Grey Mouse Lemur (Microcebus murinus). 3. On day challenge, torpor was removed through onset fever, inducing thermogenic cost. days following, food-restricted individuals returned deep (i.e. saving) whereas those fed ad continued skip at least three additional days. 4. rapid return an state restricted raises new questions relationship body temperature immunocompetence. We suggest that (i) hyperthermia provides first line defence against pathogens, which trait common all organisms, (ii) but hypothermia may also protect host by inhibiting pathogen proliferation.
