C-Dot TiO2 nanorod composite for enhanced quantum efficiency under direct sunlight

摘要: C-Dots obtained from a sustainable route (melon-rinds were used as the source) combined with TiNRs to create composite via simple hydrothermal technique. The materials subjected analyses viz. FESEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, PL, FTIR and UV-vis-DRS for understanding their intrinsic nature. solar photocatalytic performance was evaluated by degradation of methyl orange (MO) model pollutant. optical properties indicated that there clear redshift in band gap 2.49 eV, while XRD results corresponded calculated crystalline size 24.80 nm. PL analysis proved role C-dots an electron surge TiNRs. reaction faster compared solo TiNR higher 93.3% within 150 min obeying pseudo-first order kinetics rate constant k = 0.01723 min−1. charge carrier scavenging investigation showed numerous reactive oxygen species (ROS) on MO. formulated has demonstrated its ability effectively handling contaminants water. Thus, this study establishes two-step thermal method easy, facile, environmentally-friendly, low-cost synthesis large-scale production photocatalyst.
