摘要: The relaxation theory of plasma line broadening developed by Smith and Hooper, extended Smith, is applied to a charged radiator. 304 A Lyman alpha He II chosen as an example. radiator assumed perturbed only electronic ionic electric microfields. ions are treated in the static approximation. Two-component ion microfield distribution functions that allow for presence both He+ He++ perturbers employed. fact complicates treatment electron perturbation; two different approaches included. first neglects effect charge on perturbing assumes electrons can be represented momentum wave functions. This method corresponds Smith's neutral hydrogen. second includes represents Coulomb functions; this calculation requires evaluation free-free gaunt factors. theory, with perturber functions, predicts blue asymmetry near wings line. These compared classical path approach Griem Shen.
