Psychophysiological responses and restorative values of wilderness environments

摘要: Scenes of natural areas were used as stimuli to analyze the psychological and physiological responses subjects while viewing wildland scenes. Attention Restoration Theory (Kaplan 1995) theorized components restorative environments an orientation for selection visual stimuli. Conducted in Taiwan, studies recorded psychophysiological 110 laboratory participants 12 images that hypothetically represented Being Away, Extent, Fascination, Compatibility environments. Psychological measured using Perceived Restorativeness Scale by electromyography (EMG), electrocephalography (EEG), blood volume pulse (BVP) measurements. Results revealed a large degree congruency between measures restorativeness three responses. Improved scores on corresponded increased EMG EEG readings lower BVP These findings provide some objective evidence toward values, perhaps benefits, wildland-wilderness
