摘要: The aim of this study was to evaluate the probable protective effect α-lipoic acid against testicular toxicity in rats exposed carbimazole during embryonic period. Time-mated pregnant were from days 9-21. After completion gestation period, all allowed deliver pups and weaned. At postnatal day 100, F1 male assessed for selected reproductive endpoints. Gestational exposure decreased organ indices, daily sperm count, epididymal variables viz., viable sperm, motile HOS-tail coiled sperms. Significant decrease activity levels 3β- 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases expression StAR mRNA with a significant increase total cholesterol observed testis experimental over controls. These events also accompanied by reduction serum testosterone CBZ rats, indicating reduced steroidogenesis. In addition, deterioration architecture fertility ability noticed rats. superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione reductase, peroxidase content lipid peroxidation Conversely, supplementation (70 mg/Kg bodyweight) ameliorated health period as evidenced enhanced weights, variables, steroidogenesis, enzymatic non-enzymatic antioxidants. To conclude, diminished antioxidant balance associated spermatogenesis steroidogenesis might be responsible suppressed reproduction transplacentally. On other hand, through its steroidogenic properties mitigated which eventually restored carbimazole-exposed
