摘要: Soil erosion associated with land-use change is considered one of the greatest human threats to coral reef ecosystems globally. To account for sediment runoff in land–sea planning, spatially and temporally dynamic models are needed that predict where soil loss occurring, addition sediments travelling settling coastal marine areas. This assessment particularly difficult given complex three-dimensional movement water bodies. This study assessed vulnerability key resources sedimentation Raja Ampat, Indonesia, by developing a coupled terrestrial model relied primarily on global datasets. The predicted quantities at river mouths, spatial extent over this disperses ocean. In total, 1850 km2 reefs, protected areas, dive sites, pearl farms, other benthic habitats Ampat were found within plumes varying degrees impact. Two hypothetical scenarios created illustrate sensitivity development, compare future alternative management scenarios. provides powerful tool planners understand how land management, might affect resources, data-limited regions.
