摘要: If perturbing two genes together has a stronger or weaker effect than expected, they are said to genetically interact. Genetic interactions important because help map gene function, and functionally related have similar genetic interaction patterns. Mapping quantitative (positive negative) on global scale recently become possible. This data clearly shows groups of connected by predominantly positive negative interactions, termed monochromatic groups. These often correspond functional modules, like biological processes complexes, connections between modules. However it is not yet known how these patterns globally relate Here we systematically study the nature using largest set available, which includes fitness measurements for ∼5.4 million pairs in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We find that only 10% processes, as defined Gene Ontology annotations, less 1% inter-process monochromatic. Further, show protein complexes responsible surprisingly large fraction suggests play central role shaping landscape processes.
