摘要: Objectives/Hypothesis The use of cartilage in reconstruction the tympanic membrane has been established especially cases such as tubal dysfunction and adhesive processes. Cartilage offers advantage higher mechanical stability compared with membranous transplants but may alter acoustic transfer characteristics graft. Apart from material properties, it can be assumed that, also, microsurgical technique might influence sound transmission properties reconstructed membrane. purpose study was to investigate different being typically used techniques membrane. Methods plates thicknesses (1.0, 0.7, 0.5, 0.3 mm), palisades, island varying size were investigated by means an ear canal–tympanic model. In contrast former single-point measurements, sound-induced vibrational amplitudes entire transplant measured scanning laser Doppler vibrometry (measuring points, n = 133) (PSV-200, Polytec, Waldbronn, Germany). Frequency response functions (displacement vs. pressure) all points determined frequency range 200 Hz 4 kHz for transplants. Results Cutting thick into thin or palisades decreased first resonance increased its amplitude, reflecting improved transplant. From acoustical point view, 0.5-mm plate seems preferable palisade technique. showed vibration superior techniques. Conclusions characteristics, are strongly influenced choice surgical should consider requirements based on
