摘要: C–F bond activation is a challenging reaction with increasing importance in synthesis. The strength of the and shielding effect fluorine atom render its difficult. Rare-earth metals offer an exceptional opportunity for this process because high dissociation energy M–F offsets bond. Herein we report unique aromatic bonds by rare-earth-metal complexes. strong perfluorobenzene cleaved under reducing conditions presence iodide to form initially equimolar mixture metal fluoride perfluorophenyl complex; latter eventually undergoes β-F elimination fluoride. A similar behavior observed when inverse sandwich arene complexes react perfluorobenzene. All compounds were characterized X-ray crystallography, multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis.
