摘要: Through powder x-ray diffraction we have investigated the structural behavior of SmVO${}_{3}$, in which orbital and magnetic degrees freedom are believed to be closely coupled crystal lattice. We found, contrary previous reports, that SmVO${}_{3}$ exists a single, monoclinic phase below 200 K. The associated crystallographic distortion is then stabilized through magnetostriction occurs 134 structure has been refined using synchrotron data measured throughout diagram, showing substantial Jahn-Teller VO${}_{6}$ octahedra phase, compatible with expected $G$-type order.
