EPILEPTIC SEIZURES IN THE ELDERLY: II. DIAGNOSTIC PROBLEMS

摘要: Three principal diagnostic problems were encountered in a group of 81 elderly patients with epileptic seizures: Post-ictal paresis (Todd's palsy) occurred 13 (16%), whom seven had evidence past or present cerebral infarction, and six no such evidence. The lasted up to 4 days, could be confused recurrent infarction transient ischaemic episode. Ictal post-ictal confusional states 24 h more duration (up 7-8 days) noted 11 (14%). They association normal intellectual function as well pre-existing dementia, required distinguished from other causes delirium. Two presented paroxysmal sensory phenomena ictal type. differential diagnosis episodic pain hemiplegic limbs is discussed.
